Sanchez took art classes each year at San Antonio's O'Connor High School, gaining inspiration from her teacher, Jill Keith. This year, Sanchez was inspired to design a UTSA Homecoming poster and received $250 and a trophy for the entry.
She is active at UTSA in VOICES (Volunteer Organization Involving Community, Education and Service), the Pre-Med Society and the Hispanic Student Association.
The 2007 UTSA Homecoming poster, following the theme "Tradition, Spirit, Pride" will feature Sanchez' artwork with UTSA mascot Rowdy Roadrunner, the San Antonio skyline, the Texas flag and fireworks.
Second place winner Ryan Bridges is a senior marketing major. For his creation, he utilized a collage technique. Also an O'Connor graduate, Bridges is a San Antonio native. After he graduates from UTSA in May 2007, he hopes to go into marketing for NASCAR.
Third-place winner Veronica Markland is working toward a B.F.A. in photography and art history with a focus in Italian Renaissance art. Her poster design entry was a multimedia piece. Born and raised in San Antonio, Markland is a photographer, artist and Web designer.
