UTSA Satellite Space presents exhibit of words

(Jan. 31, 2007)--The UTSA Satellite Space, part of the Department of Art and Art History, hosts the exhibit "Creating Context: Words at Work," Feb. 1-18. An opening reception is 6-9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
Curated by Kristy Masten, the exhibit features new art by UTSA M.F.A. student George Zupp (San Antonio), UTSA alumnus Enrique Martinez (San Antonio) and area artists Lisa Choinacky (Austin), Kurt Mueller (Austin) and Josh Rios (San Marcos).

The artists use text or writing to create a humorous, ironic or disparate context within a visual framework. Through drawing, painting, sculpture and installation, words are used to help create meaning and alter the viewer's experience.
The UTSA Satellite Space is in Blue Star Arts Complex Suite 115 at South Alamo and Probandt streets. Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m., Friday-Sunday, or by appointment.
