(Feb. 7, 2007)--Mark your calendars for Feb. 15-17, and join the entire UTSA community in celebrating Homecoming 2007 with the theme "Tradition - Spirit - Pride." For the full slate of events, visit the Homecoming Web site or call (210) 458-4160.

"I hope to see everyone at the events as we show our Roadrunner spirit," said UTSA President Ricardo Romo. "Friday, Feb. 16, is Spirit Day, so I encourage everyone to wear their orange and blue to show your UTSA pride! At 6 p.m. that day is the Rowdy Rampage, which is always a lot of fun with the Golf Cart Parade and fireworks. Where else can you see fireworks in February? Then, let's pack the Convo to the rafters for the game Feb. 17 against Texas State."

The Homecoming 2007 t-shirt is available at the University Center information desk at the 1604 Campus. The t-shirts are only $5, and they are going fast.

The events start at 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15 with the third annual Jazz in the Plaza at Bill Miller Plaza on the Downtown Campus. For the second year, the Golf Cart Parade combined with Rowdy Rampage, will offer a great night of fireworks, music and fun starting at 6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16. The Homecoming men's basketball game against the Texas State Bobcats is at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17.

Start off the day at the 23rd annual Diploma Dash 5K Run/Fitness Walk and City Championship Race at 9 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Convocation Center. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The event benefits UTSA track and cross country scholarships, and alumni programs and services. City Manager Sheryl Sculley, also a marathon runner, will fire the starting gun. Registration is $20 through Wednesday, Feb. 14, and $30 on race day. UTSA students who register at the Office of Alumni Programs before race day can enter for $10 with UTSACard.

Additionally, the first Student Leader Reunion Luncheon is noon Feb. 17 in the University Center Laurel Room (2.01.28) at the 1604 Campus. Advance tickets ($10) are required. The event includes campus tours to update alumni on the tremendous growth at UTSA.
