Criminal justice speaker to discuss chaos theory

(April 23, 2007)--The UTSA Department of Criminal Justice will host Jeffery T. Walker, president of the Academy of Criminal Justice, who will speak on chaos theory in crime at 11 a.m., Friday, April 27 in the Frio Street Building Sam Riklin Auditorium (1.406), UTSA Downtown Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Using common ways of thinking about criminal activity, Walker interjects chaos theory into his analysis in order to make sense of crimes that do not fit typical patterns.

Walker has written six books, more than 30 journal articles and book chapters, 17 technical reports and delivered more than 70 professional papers and presentations. He has obtained more than $9 million in grants from the Department of Justice, National Institute of Drug Abuse and others.
Walker is a professor of criminal justice and criminology in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, where he has taught since 1990. Additionally, he is graduate coordinator for the master of arts in criminal justice degree program and adviser for the criminal justice track in the public policy Ph.D. program jointly administered with the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
