Paul Westmeyer
April 6 fundraiser to honor late associate dean

(April 4, 2007)--The UTSA College of Education and Human Development will host a fundraiser to establish a scholarship in honor of former UTSA Associate Dean Paul Westmeyer. The benefit event is 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 6 at the University Center Laurel Room (2.01.28) at the 1604 Campus.
Westmeyer, who died May 28, 2006, at age 81, served as UTSA associate dean for graduate studies and research, professor of education, and graduate adviser for the College of Education and Human Development.

After earning a B.S. degree (1949) and an M.A. degree (1953) from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and an Ed.D. from the University of Illinois (1960), Westmeyer taught junior high school and high school in North Vernon, Ind.
He later taught at Purdue University, University of Northern Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and UT Austin. Additionally, Westmeyer wrote numerous books and articles on adult and higher education and science education and served in a variety of professional organizations.
Westmeyer was an accomplished wood-carver and several of his carvings will be on display at the benefit. The event is free and open to the public, but scholarship donations are encouraged.
