UTSA College of Business reaccredited by AACSB

(June 28, 2007)--The UTSA College of Business (COB) earned reaccreditation in business from AACSB International -- The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. With only 549 accredited business schools worldwide, AACSB International is the premier global accrediting body for business schools.

"Our AACSB accreditation places us among the world's elite business schools," said College of Business Dean Lynda de la Viña. "Less than 10 percent of business schools worldwide achieve AACSB accreditation. This reaccreditation affirms the quality of our academic programs, faculty members and student services and programs."

During the review process, COB was recognized for having a dedicated administration team with a strong and visionary dean, aggressively hiring new research-oriented faculty, developing innovative programs to support undergraduate students, commitment to globalization efforts, innovative executive education programs including an Executive MBA program and international education seminars, increased research support and excellent information technology support.

"AACSB commends the dean, faculty and administrative staff for their exemplary work in helping their school earn the highest achievement in business school accreditation," said John J. Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of AACSB International.

Accredited business schools are required to go through a peer-review process every five years to maintain accreditation. While earning accreditation a business school undergoes meticulous internal review, evaluation and adjustment.

"It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn AACSB accreditation," said Jerry Trapnell, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "The UTSA College of Business has met rigorous standards of excellence, as well as made a commitment to ongoing improvement that ensures that they will deliver a high quality education to their students."

The UTSA College of Business is the largest undergraduate business program in the University of Texas System and one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation. The college has 6,157 enrolled students and features 37 different degree programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.

The college is accredited by AACSB International, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The college is dedicated to raising its academic profile to become one of the best business schools recognized for developing "Knowledge for a New World."
