(Oct. 1, 2007)--The UTSA Office of Students Activities will host a free weekend event at the Downtown Campus to help graduate and evening students and their families get involved in campus life outside of the classroom. Family Day at the Downtown Campus is 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6 at Bill Miller Plaza.

"Many students taking graduate-level or evening classes at the Downtown Campus don't often get the opportunity to participate in campus life," said Michelle Montanio, assistant director of student activities at the Downtown Campus. "By creating a weekend event that includes the entire family, we hope to help students feel more connected to the UTSA community."
Family Day will have a carnival atmosphere where everything including the hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy are free. Families can have their pictures taken in the format of an old-time family portrait or on a giant inflatable chair. There will be crafts, games, prizes and interactive activities hosted by the Chemistry Club and kinesiology students.
Additionally, representatives from academic departments, UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures and other UTSA offices will provide information on university services.
