(Oct. 23, 2007)--Caitlyn Griffith and Candice Griffith are the Student Leaders of the Month for August/September 2007, it was announced by the UTSA Office of Student Activities. Patricia Graham, executive director of the UTSA Special Events Center, nominated the sisters. Other nominees were Jessica Twining, Jacob Boomsaad and Kelly Gambill.

Caitlyn Griffith is a third-year ambassador also serving as a co-assistant coordinator for the UTSA Ambassadors program. Previously, she was the co-chair for the Ambassadors Fundraising Committee and chair of the Ambassadors Selection Committee. In addition to her work as an ambassador, she served on university-wide committees including the Search Committee for the Vice President for Student Affairs. She is a member of the Honors College and will graduate in May. Caitlyn has donated more than 1,000 hours of service to the university over her tenure as an ambassador.
Candice Griffith is a third-year UTSA Ambassador serving as a co-assistant coordinator for the UTSA Ambassadors program. Previously, she was co-chair and chair of the Ambassadors Fundraising Committee. A member of the Honors College, she will graduate in May. Candice has given more than 1,100 hours of service to the university over her tenure as an ambassador.
Last summer, Caitlyn and Candice were primarily responsible for the planning and implementing of the annual UTSA Ambassadors fall retreat.
According to Graham, Caitlyn and Candice personify the UTSA Ambassadors creed of leadership, service and integrity and are role models for all UTSA students.
The Student Leader of the Month Award is sponsored by the Office of Student Activities to recognize outstanding leadership contributions. Nominees must be full-time UTSA undergraduate or graduate students, have a cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or higher at the time of nomination, have demonstrated excellence in leadership above and beyond typical expectations, and have had a positive impact on the UTSA community.
Nominations are made through the Office of Student Activities Web site and must be submitted by the fourth Thursday each month.
