(Oct. 5, 2007)--As part of the UTSA State Employee Charitable Campaign, five nonprofit agencies are featured in interviews at the UTSA Distance Learning and Academic Technology TV studio. Recorded Oct. 5, UTSA staff member Evaristo Hinojosa, a member of the SECC President's Advisory Committee, hosted the event.

In the program, representatives from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Humane Society/SPCA of Bexar County, the American Cancer Society, The Children's Shelter and United Way 211 talked about the services of their respective organizations.

Each agency participates in SECC, which runs through Oct. 19. UTSA employees are encouraged to give to the campaign, which benefits hundreds of local, regional and national nonprofits.

The interview program is the brainchild of Bill Angrove, UTSA assistant vice provost for distance learning.

"I was trying to think of ways that my department could contribute to promoting the importance of giving through the SECC," Angrove said. "One way to do that is by giving the agencies an opportunity to talk about what they do and broadcast it through our studio."
