Tufts professor to speak on multicultural literature

(Feb. 27, 2008)--The UTSA Women's Studies Institute will host a lecture by Elizabeth Ammons, Harriet H. Fay Professor of Literature at Tufts University in Medford, Mass. She will speak on "The Post-Soul Hoax: U.S. Literature and the Multicultural Imperative Speaking" at 4p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28 in John Peace Library Building Room 4.03.08 at the 1604 Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

RSS FeedsAmmons has received the Tufts Multicultural Service Award (1996) and was a Tufts nominee for CANE Professor of the Year (1990) and was a Fulbright Special Scholar in Japan (2003).
She is the author of many books including "Conflicting Stories: American Women Writers at the Turn into the Twentieth Century," "Edith Wharton's Argument with America" and edited volumes including "Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin: A Casebook" and "American Local Color Writing, 1880-1920."
The UTSA event was organized by Joycelyn Moody, UTSA Sue Denman Endowed Chair in American Literature.
