UTSA hosts Black Heritage Ball Feb. 23

(Feb. 13, 2008)--As part of Black History Month, the UTSA community is invited to the fourth annual Black Heritage Ball at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 in the University Center Denman Room (2.01.28) on the 1604 Campus.

The theme this year is "Stand Up and Be Counted," and the keynote speaker at the event will be community leader Rev. E. Thurman Walker, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church. Under Walker's leadership, his church has become a major change maker on San Antonio's East Side.

Following the dinner and program, there will be dancing accompanied by the George Morin Jazz Band.

Tickets to the ball are $15, $10 for students, and must be purchased in advance at the University Center information desk on the 1604 Campus.

The Black Heritage Ball is part of a series of programs planned and coordinated by the Inclusion and Community Engagement Center for Black History Month.
