Capital Group employees get ready for Diploma Dash by training in their company campus

(Feb. 26, 2008)--The 24th annual UTSA Alumni Diploma Dash is almost here. Benefiting the Alumni Scholarship Fund, UTSA track athletes and alumni programs and services, the walk/run is 9 a.m., Saturday, March 1, at the Convocation Center on the 1604 Campus. Diploma Dash also serves as the San Antonio City Championship Race.

The race entry fee is $20 through Feb. 27 and $30 on race day. UTSA students can enter for $10 with UTSACard at the Office of Alumni Programs or on race day.
Presenting sponsor again this year is The Capital Group Companies, a group of investment management companies with 19 offices worldwide including San Antonio.
UTSA alumni and their families, faculty, staff and students are welcome to spend a morning of exercise, food and fun at this premier homecoming event. Race-day registration, complimentary breakfast and stretching begin at 8 a.m. and the start gun fires at 9 a.m. The racecourse offers a certified 5K flat and fast course for accomplished runners and a scenic 1.5-mile course for those who prefer an easier pace.
Co-chairs for this year's race are Danny Zimmermann, '01, Cleary Zimmermann Engineers, and Susan Campbell, '89, of The Capital Group Companies.
Cash prizes, trophies and medals, and running shoes will be awarded for Men's and Women's Open and a round-trip American Airlines ticket will be awarded to Overall First Place Winners. Men's and Women's Masters categories receive prizes and trophies. Custom medals will be awarded in 13 age categories and to Clydesdale and Filly divisions. Each participant receives a long-sleeved Diploma Dash t-shirt and "goodie" bag.
The Pacesestter sponsor this year is Valero Energy Corp. Other major sponsors are American Airlines, Security Service Federal Credit Union, Tesoro Corp., H-E-B, San Antonio Express-News, Cleary Zimmermann Engineers, U. S. Global Investors, San Antonio Federal Credit Union, Liberty Mutual, Right Images Printing and Roger Soler's Sports.
Corporate Challenge teams are training now and include Bartlett Cocke, Boardwalk Real Property Management, Joeris General Contractors, KCI, Marmon Mok Architecture, Southwest Business Corp. and Wells Fargo Bank. Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni and the UTSA Alumni Association also are running competitive teams.
