Political strategist Leslie Sanchez to speak Feb. 26 at UTSA

(Feb. 25, 2008)--Political strategist and frequent cable news commentator Leslie Sanchez will speak at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the University Center Retama Auditorium (2.02.02) on the UTSA 1604 Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The lecture, "America's True Swing Voters: Women and Hispanics," is sponsored by Honors College, the Center for Inclusion and Community Engagement, and the Women's History Month Organizing Committee.

Additionally, Sanchez will serve as a conversation leader at 6:30 p.m. as part of "Great Conversation!," a dinner party-style fundraiser benefiting the UTSA Honors Colllege. The benefit will be at UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures. Read more about "Great Conversation!"

Sanchez is founder and CEO of Impacto Group LLC, one of the few woman-owned U.S. communications and market research firms. Hispanic Business magazine named her one of the nation's "100 Most Influential Hispanics." In 1999, she served as deputy press secretary for the Republican National Committee, where she helped create the Republicans' first-ever, multimillion-dollar ad campaign aimed at Hispanic voters. She later served as executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans.

Sanchez is frequently sought out for her views on social and economic trends affecting women and the Hispanic community. Her commentaries have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post and U.S. News and World Report. She frequently appears on NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN and Univision. Her most recent book is "Los Republicanos: Why Hispanics and Republicans Need Each Other."
