H-E-B executive presents Frost lecture March 13

(March 11, 2008)--Suzanne Wade, president of the San Antonio Food/Drug Division of H-E-B, will present the keynote address of the UTSA College of Business Frost Distinguished Lecture Series. The lecture is 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13 in the Business Building Richard S. Liu Auditorium ( 2.01.02) on the UTSA 1604 Campus. The event is sponsored by the College of Business and is free and open to the public.

Wade is responsible for the sales, profitability and welfare of 201 H-E-B stores in Austin, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Waco, the Rio Grande Valley and the Southwest Border. She manages more than 40,000 employees and oversees sales revenues of approximately $9.5 billion annually.

With H-E-B since 1997, she recently was recognized by the publication, Progressive Grocer, as one of the top 62 women in the supermarket industry. Before working at H-E-B, Wade worked for Wal-Mart Corp. in Bentonville, Ark., for 10 years and for TG&Y Stores in Oklahoma City.

Active in the community, Wade serves on the United Way Women's Leadership Council, Coordinating Council for United Way Initiatives and chair of the H-E-B United Way Fund Raising Drive. She also is a board member of the Family Justice Center Foundation in Bexar County, the Go Red/Women's Heart Health Circle of Red, the Children's Shelter of San Antonio Foundation and an executive board member of the UTSA College of Business Advisory Council.

She holds a master's in business administration from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor of business administration degree from Oklahoma State University.

The Frost Distinguished Lecture Series brings prominent business and community leaders to UTSA to share their knowledge and experiences with students and others in the university and business communities.
