By Geoffrey Merritt
Assistant Director of Public Affairs

(March 5, 2008)--The Alamo Community College District (ACCD) Police Department recently was notified of an attempted sexual assault at Northwest Vista College. A male approached a female student walking to her car, grabbed her from behind and forced her into a wooded area. The female got away from the suspect without injury.

The male suspect is Hispanic, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 180 pounds, medium build, age 25-30, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a ski mask, dark clothing and gloves.

Anyone with information on this offense should contact Sgt. Marin, ACCD Police Department, at (210) 208-8160.

NOTE: The suspect has not been seen at any UTSA campus. Although these types of assaults are rare on a college campus, it is important that the university community be alert and vigilant for any type of suspicious activity. Practice safe actions by being aware of your surroundings and walk with a friend.

To help make yourself and your property a tougher target against crime, view a safety video at the UTSA Police Department Web site. At the site, click on "Parking Lot Safety Tips."
