When an employee cannot vote before or after normal working hours, supervisors may grant employees a reasonable period of time off for voting during business hours. Employees should be currently registered voters in order to qualify for the time off. Time off for voting should be requested in advance and approved by the supervisor.
Employees granted time off should record this time as "O -- Other" on their time sheets. No reduction in vacation allowance or salary will be made for the time taken to vote as long as supervisory approval is obtained. Leave administrators with questions on how to document this time in the Define information system should contact Rose Cabello at (210) 458-6647.
