Faculty, staff e-mailbox capacity increased

(Aug. 28, 2008)--The UTSA Office of Information Technology Enterprise Systems team has completed a project that increases UTSA staff and faculty mailboxes from 100MB to 500MB.

In preparation for the increase, network technicians moved all UTSA mailboxes to new servers with higher capacity.

"One of the most common requests we get is for bigger mailboxes," said Brent League, assistant director of enterprise systems. "We're excited to be able to offer our users this increased capacity."

While the increase in mailbox size allows storage of more e-mail messages, users should continue to exercise discretion in order to keep mailboxes manageable.

Along with the increased mailbox size, new rules are in place:

  • When your mailbox size reaches 475MB, you will receive a warning message.
  • At 490MB, you will not be able to send new messages.
  • If you reach the 500MB limit, you will be unable to send or receive e-mail -- that means any e-mail sent to your mailbox will not be received and will not be recoverable.
