Students attending "Late Night at the Rec" will have an opportunity to win a free t-shirt and explore the facility. They can participate in activities, learn about Campus Rec programs and enjoy free food, prizes and music, along with signing up to utilize services throughout the year. All areas of the facility will be open during the event including the tallest climbing wall in Texas and the new outdoor pool with a "lazy river."
For the fourth year, "Dive Into the UC" will highlight the amenities in the University Center including the new expansion, UC III. The event will have a pirate theme as students look for the treasures within the UC. Students who complete their treasure maps will receive a free t-shirt while supplies last. The event will feature live steel drum music and karaoke. Also, there will be free food sampling from ARAMARK food locations including the new Taco Cabana, Panda Express, Starbucks and Subway.
Services in the center will be highlighted through various activities and events. The Office of Alumni Programs, ARAMARK food services, Office of Career Services, Inclusion and Community Engagement Center, Frost Bank, Office of Student Activities, Office of Student Judicial Affairs, Office of Student Life, Tomas Rivera Center, UTSA Bookstore, University Center and an all-new convenience store are located in the building.
Later in the evening, there will be a showing of the movie, "The Goonies." The movie keeps with the pirate theme as the characters in the film search for a pirate's treasure.
These weekend events are part of UTSA Roadrunner Days, Aug. 22-28, a series of events to welcome students and kick off the new academic year.
