(Sept. 16, 2008)--Kenny Wilson, president of Bank of America for Central and South Texas, has been appointed chairman of The University of Texas at San Antonio Development Board. Wilson, who has served on the board since 2006, assumes the new role Sept. 16. Tom C. Frost, the board's chairman for 18 years, will serve as chairman emeritus.

"The most important factor in the success of our community is education," said Wilson. "UTSA continues to grow and create new opportunities for San Antonio. I am honored to play a role in the next phase of the university's expansion."

Wilson, who has been a major supporter of UTSA and its mission to become the next premier public research university in Texas, also has served on various boards throughout the region including chairman of the board of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and board chair of the Free Trade Alliance in San Antonio. He currently serves on the board and executive committee of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member of ACCION Texas, San Antonio Museum of Art, San Antonio River Foundation, Economic Development Foundation, UT CTRC, P14Plus Education Council, and United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County.

Under his leadership, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation gave $1 million last year to help fund the Child and Adolescent Policy Research Institute, now named the Bank of America Child and Adolescent Policy Research Institute, or CAPRI.

Frost, who is chairman emeritus of Frost Bank in San Antonio, was chairman of the UTSA Development Board since 1990. Through his leadership and support, the university has increased its student enrollment, increased the number of nationally recognized faculty and implemented millions of dollars worth of infrastructure construction.

"Today is a great day for UTSA, a day we celebrate two outstanding leaders in our community," said UTSA President Ricardo Romo. "Thanks to Tom Frost's leadership at the helm of our development board, UTSA is well prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. And, thanks to Kenny Wilson, a leader with great vision and a can-do attitude, UTSA is in great hands as we continue our journey toward premier public research university status."
