Kennedy is serving his seventh term in Congress. He is the son of U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy. He represents the 1st District of Rhode Island.
Rodriguez, whose 23rd Congressional District includes the 1604 Campus, serves with Kennedy on the House Appropriations Committee.
Their visit to encourage voter participation comes on the second day of early voting. Bexar County registered voters can vote through Oct. 31 at the 1604 Campus Main Building ground floor.
UTSA's Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting the congressmen as part of its student get-out-the-vote efforts.
SGA President Christina Gomez encourages all students to attend the event. "This is a very exciting time for our UTSA community," said Gomez. "We have the privilege of serving our community with an early-voting site and the honor to host Rep. Patrick Kennedy. We hope his visit on the second day of early voting will inspire not only our students, but also the entire UTSA community to vote in this historic election."
The paseo is the ground-level walkway between the University Center buildings. The event will move to the University Center ballroom in case of rain.
