(Oct. 21, 2008)--Orientation sessions are a great opportunity for UTSA faculty, staff, and organizations to connect with students. Thousands of new students will attend orientation sessions next summer, and if you or your organization has suggestions for programming -- now is your chance.

The deadline for proposal submissions that will affect students entering UTSA in fall 2009 is Oct. 24, 2008. E-mail or campus mail proposals to George Norton, assistant vice president for admissions, orientation and family programs. The proposals then will be evaluated by the Orientation Advisory Board and the selections will be announced in November.

UTSA Undergraduate Student Orientation is a large program serving some 6,000 new students annually. Because so many students are affected by orientation programming, feedback is always sought.

The Orientation Advisory Board was created to help make orientation programs more effective and meaningful to students. With representation from the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Student Affairs, the board will meet regularly throughout the year to discuss suggestions for program improvement and to ensure that appropriate modifications are implemented. The board welcomes proposals from the entire UTSA community.

For more information, contact George Norton at (210) 458-5600.
