(Dec. 2, 2008)--The UTSA Department of Music rings in the Christmas season with the annual Holiday Cabaret Dinner at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-6 in the University Center ballroom on the 1604 Campus.

This year's show, "Have Yourself a 'Jazzy' Little Christmas: A New Orleans Holiday Dinner," features the UTSA Cabaret Singers along with special guests The Ron Wilkins Dixieland Jazz Band. Come join Santa in singing your holiday favorites with a Dixieland beat.
The evening includes food, wine, singing and the smell of jambalaya cooking in the kitchen, providing a unique New Orleans Bourbon Street flavor to Christmas this holiday season.
Proceeds raised from the event will benefit the UTSA Department of Music Scholarship Funds.
"Not only is the dinner fun to produce, but it also provides voice students an important performing experience in a dinner theater environment," said John Silantien, UTSA professor of music. "Just as with athletic teams, music ensembles need to attract blue-chip, talented students from around the state and competitive scholarship awards are crucial in attracting those star performers."
Tickets are $40 and are available by calling Naomy Ybarra at (210) 458-4357.
