Two alumni board members named Rising Stars

(Dec. 10, 2008)--UTSA Alumni Association board members Danny Zimmermann and Rob Killen are among the San Antonio Business Journal's "40 Under 40 Rising Stars" for 2008.

Board president Danny Zimmermann, '01, is principal of Cleary Zimmermann Engineers. He earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. For several years he chaired the Diploma Dash, the annual walk/run that benefits the UTSA Alumni Scholarship Fund, UTSA track athletes, and alumni programs and services. He and his wife April have two children, Ethan and Sophie.
Alumni board treasurer Rob Killen, '97, recently was named partner in the law firm of Kaufman & Killen Inc. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science. Killen has been an active member of the alumni board, specializing in community relations before his election as treasurer. He is married to Melissa Castro Killen.
"We are delighted to see two UTSA alumni selected as area rising stars," said Marjie French, UTSA vice president for university advancement. "Everyone here at UTSA who works with Danny and Rob appreciate all they do for the UTSA Alumni Association and the entire university. We are also very proud of the fine work they are doing in the business community."
Killen and Zimmermann were chosen from 274 nominees. The San Antonio Business Journal each year honors 40 young local professionals under the age of 40 who "are making a difference in the business world and the community."
