UTSA participates in Recyclemania 2009 contest

(Jan. 20, 2009)--UTSA has begun the countdown for Recyclemania -- the nationwide college and university recycling competition. As in years past, UTSA will be up against some of the largest schools in the nation as well as many Texas universities. The 2009 competition runs Jan. 18-March 28, and the help of the entire UTSA community is needed during the third year of our participation.

RSS FeedsSponsored at UTSA by the Office of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management, Recyclemania needs the participation of all departments to advertise and more importantly -- to recycle. Located throughout the Tri-campuses in common areas, offices and residence facilities, UTSA recycling bins are checked daily for aluminum, plastic, glass, paper and cardboard.
Here is what you can do:
- Recycle all paper (catalogs, newspapers, frozen meal boxes)
- Collect recyclable aluminum, plastic and glass items -- deposit in nearest receptacle
- Break down cardboard boxes (such as pizza boxes) -- place beside large paper bins and housekeeping will pick them up and take them to the compactor
In the first quarter of fiscal year 2009, more than 100 tons of recyclable materials were processed. During Recyclemania 2009, UTSA can demonstrate its university pride and that we are concerned about the environment and our world.
