'Raise Your Voice Against AIDS' event is Feb. 9

(Feb. 9, 2009)--UTSA Student Health Services will host "Raise Your Voice Against AIDS: AIDS in Black America," an information and health fair, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9 at Sombrilla Plaza on the 1604 Campus. The event is part of National Black AIDS Awareness Day.

There will be music by Tha Anthem, DJ Quake and UNIFYD SOUL, along with information and giveaways. Scott Becker from GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be free HIV testing, HIV/AIDS information, and diabetes, glucose and blood pressure checks.

The event is co-sponsored by the SHADES (Sexual Health, Alcohol and Drug Education for Students) peer education program, GlaxoSmithKline, BEAT AIDS and Universal Nursing Services.

UTSA Student Health Services offers free HIV testing

UTSA Student Health Services and the Minority Education Institute Initiative Program Coordinating Center will provide free HIV testing for UTSA students throughout the spring semester. It's time for students to get in the know about their HIV status. The 20-minute rapid testing is private and confidential.
