UTSA hosts Health Professions Day events Feb. 19

(Feb. 16, 2009)--The UTSA Health Professions Office and UTSA Career Services invite students and other aspiring health professionals to learn about health care careers at the 19th annual Health Professions Day from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19 in the University Center, 1604 Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature seven panel discussions and information tables. Participants will be able to speak with more than 60 representatives from schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, optometry, veterinary medicine and respiratory care and other health disciplines.

Panel discussion topics will include careers in health and medicine, applying to medical and dental school, applying to allied health profession programs, medically related research opportunities, financial assistance and planning, exploring nursing pathways, and life as a health professions student.

Free event parking for non-UTSA students will be available in lot 11 off UTSA Boulevard with free shuttles to the event. Short-term paid spaces will be available in lots 5, 7 and 8 and in the north and south parking garages.
