UTSA business college hosts real estate expo

(March 4, 2009)--Students can learn about educational and career opportunities in the real estate industry during the UTSA College of Business Real Estate Expo from 3-6 p.m., Thursday, March 5 in the Business Building University Room (2.06.04) on the 1604 Campus. The event is free and open to students.

More than 15 representatives from the industry including developers, construction companies, bankers, title companies and professional organizations will be on hand to discuss career opportunities in their respective areas.

The college's dynamic Real Estate Finance and Development program has grown to more than 150 students in the last year. The program is designed for students interested in managing business associated with real estate and the planning, financing, development and construction of building projects.

The college offers a B.B.A. degree in real estate finance and development, an M.B.A. concentration in real estate finance, an M.S. in finance with a concentration in real estate finance, as well as a new M.S. in construction science and management.

The real estate development, home building and construction industry employs more than 131,000 individuals in San Antonio. With an economic impact of $19.4 billion each year, it is second only to the health care industry as an economic generator. Statewide, more than 784,000 individuals are employed in the industry.

The expo is sponsored by the UTSA College of Business Center for Student Professional Development, the Real Estate Finance and Development program and the UTSA Career Center.
