(March 2, 2009)--To open Women's History Month, the UTSA Women's Studies Institute (WSI) will welcome national League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) President Rosa Rosales, who will speak on "Fancy Hats and Hardball Politics: Women, Leadership, and the League of United Latin American Citizens." Free and open to the public, the talk is 3:30-5:30 p.m., Monday, March 2 in the University Center Denman Room (2.01.28) on the 1604 Campus.

With this year's theme, "Testimonios: Celebrating Our Stories," Women's History Month provides diverse and interdisciplinary programming focused on the contributions of women as well as the ways in which gender informs our lives and society.
Women's History Month recognizes and celebrates women's contributions and causes by providing space for educational events from a feminist perspective, promoting a commitment to diversity, and aiming to achieve social justice and women's empowerment. Additionally, the events honor those who have worked for the betterment of those historically underrepresented.
Founded in 1929, LULAC is the oldest and largest national organization in the United States dedicated to the advancement of the Hispanic population in the United States with a focus on education, economic status, health and civil rights.
