UTSA to host panel on economy meltdown

(April 8, 2009)--The UTSA College of Business will host a panel presentation "The State of the Economy Following the Meltdown" at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 14 in the Business Building Richard S. Liu Auditorium (2.01.02) on the Main Campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The panel will address the current stimulus plan, assess the state of financial markets, and provide a regional and international economic overview.

Lynda de la Viña, dean of the UTSA College of Business, will moderate the discussion. Panelists will include Julie Dahlquist, UTSA senior lecturer in finance; Keith Phillips, senior economist and policy adviser for the San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas; Yiuman Tse, U.S. Global Investors Inc. Fellow in Finance; and Ken Weiher, UTSA associate professor and chair of the Department of Economics.

"Our goal is not only to educate our students about the state of the economy during these critical times, but also to provide a service to the greater community in light of the recent economic crisis," said de la Viña.
