Join the Walk and Roll Corporate Challenge
By Jane Wilcox
Director of Business Auxiliary Services
(May 28, 2009)--During June, UTSA will participate in the Walk and Roll Corporate Challenge. UTSA will compete with area businesses to accumulate the most "smart miles" per employee. "Smart miles" refers to commuting to and from work by carpooling, vanpooling, riding the bus, walking or cycling -- just don't drive alone.

Why should you participate?
Participating in the Walk and Roll Corporate Challenge will provide employees with a number of benefits. Alternative commuting saves money, helps de-stress your travel time, reduces road and parking lot congestion, and improves your health -- walking and cycling in particular. You'll also receive satisfaction in knowing you are doing something to improve the environment, reduce air pollution and improve the quality of life in our community.
Participating is easy
You can log smart miles at the River Cities Rideshare Web site.. Participating employees choose both a username and password and identify as a UTSA participant. For privacy, employees will be identified on the Web site solely by a username. Starting June 1, employees can begin logging their smart miles in the "My Page" section within the "Commute Tracker" area on the site.
Need more motivation?
UTSA Business Auxiliary Services will reward the UTSA employee logging the most miles June 1-30 with a month of preferred parking in July in the North Parking Garage on the Main Campus. The winner will be recognized at a 9 a.m., July 6 ceremony at Parking and Transportation Services, Physical Plant Building Room 1.200.
