For the tournament, vehicles must enter the UTSA Main Campus from UTSA Boulevard onto Edward Ximenes Boulvevard and proceed to the information booth for a parking permit. The Valero Texas Open (VTO) was moved from October to May, a more desirable time in the PGA Tournament schedule. The tournament helps to promote San Antonio as a golf destination, but the event's most significant and lasting impact is its annual charitable contributions. The 2008 VTO resulted in $8.5 million in donations to charities.
