(Aug. 25, 2009)--Rounding out the week's events during UTSA Roadrunner Days, are Fajita Fest on Thursday, Aug. 27, followed by the Howdy Rowdy Bash. The free UCinema Friday Night Movie is "Star Trek," and throughout the semester on Saturday nights there will be Roadrunners Late Night events in the University Center ballroom. UTSA Roadrunner Days is a series of fun events and activities to provide tools and resources students need to succeed inside and outside the classroom.
Sponsored by the Greek Councils, Fajita Fest will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center west mall on the Main Campus. There will be free fajita dinners and music for UTSA students. The event highlights the UTSA Greek Councils and the fraternities and sororities on campus. In its fifth year, Fajita Fest is a popular social forum for students and an opportunity to learn about fraternities and sororities.
Immediately after Fajita Fest, will be the 14th annual Howdy Rowdy Bash from 7:30 to 9 p.m. inside the Convocation Center. The annual UTSA tradition introduces students to athletics programs and helps build school spirit with the assistance of UTSA mascot Rowdy Roadrunner. Some lucky participants will have a chance to compete against UTSA athletes and coaches with prizes, free ice cream and t-shirts while supplies last.
On Friday, Aug. 28, the University Center Program Council will host the UCinema Friday Night Movie in the University Center Retama Auditorium (2.02.02), Main Campus, with a free showing of "Star Trek," featuring the new young cast of familiar characters. Enjoy the movie, along with free popcorn and other giveaways.
Throughout the semester, students can participate in Roadrunners Late Night events. Hosted by student organizations and university departments, free activities for UTSA students will be in or around the University Center from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. every Saturday night. Created by collaboration of the University Center Program Council and Campus Activities Board, students are sure to experience quality programs and make new friends.
