(Nov. 10, 2009)--The UTSA Office of Student Activities will present the jazz of the Tameca Jones Quartet from 5 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Frio Street Building commons on the Downtown Campus. Free and open to the public, the performance is part of Downtown Campus Coffeehouse Series, a new initiative in programming for students and employees on campus in the evening.

Tameca Jones is the former singer for the band 8 Million Stories. Her newest project, The Tameca Jones Quartet, was created after she returned from an enlightening stay in San Francisco. The soulful jazz renderings of Dinah Washington and the nimble, vocal dexterity of Ella Fitzgerald opened her ears to a new form of music. Her quartet presents old standards in a modern, soulful way.
