First UTSA HUB program coordinator Manuel Gallegos dies Dec. 12
(Dec. 16, 2009)--Manuel Hugo Gallegos Sr., UTSA's first Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program coordinator, died Dec. 12. Manny, as he was known by co-workers, was instrumental in launching the university's HUB program in 1994, laying the groundwork for what is today one of the state's top performing programs.
Gallegos was known for his energy, dedication, humor and resourcefulness in assisting local minority businesses, area public institutions and community groups. He also worked as a trainer in UTSA Human Resources and was involved with numerous volunteer community and youth leadership programs.
He is survived by his wife and many family members including UTSA police officer Manuel H. Gallegos Jr.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 19 at Oak Hills Mortuary, San Antonio.
