(Aug. 23, 2011)--UTSA President Ricardo Romo will host two picnics and a barbecue dinner Wednesday, Aug. 24 for students, faculty and staff members. The free annual events are part of UTSA Roadrunner Days, a week of activities marking the start of the fall semester and to acquaint new students with university life.

  • From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, the President's Picnic on the Plaza will be at Bill Miller Plaza on the UTSA Downtown Campus. UTSA administrators will don aprons and serve a free lunch to all, and there will be live music and free t-shirts.
  • From noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the President's Picnic on the Lawn, Romo and UTSA administrators will serve food at the Convocation Center east lawn near the University Center. As with the Downtown Campus event, there will be music and free t-shirts while the supplies last.
  • The fun will continue into the evening with the annual President's BBQ from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center east lawn. Along with free food, Campus Recreation staff will be on hand to provide games to entertain the crowd.
