UTSA newly revised facilities and administrative rates are now in effect
(Sept. 1, 2011) -- UTSA has successfully negotiated a 2.5 percent facilities and administrative rate increase for on-campus organized research and instruction with the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for the next four years.
This rate is used to determine the maximum allowable indirect cost that may be applied to a grant or contract. These costs include salaries and wages, fringe benefits, materials, supplies, services, travel and up to $25,000 of each sub-award.
The new rates are effective from Sept. 1, 2011, through Aug. 31, 2015:
- 47 percent on-campus for both organized research and instruction
- 35 percent on-campus for other sponsored activities (public service)
- 26 percent off-campus for all programs
Costs that are excluded are equipment, capital expenditures, rent (off-site facilities), tuition, scholarships and fellowships as well as the portion of each sub-award in excess of $25,000.
