(Sept. 18, 2014) -- The UTSA Student Center for Community Engagement and Inclusion and University Center Programs will host its annual street fair, Calle UTSA, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18 at the University Center Paseo on the Main Campus.

Calle UTSA is held in honor of Latino Heritage Month, which is nationally celebrated from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 each year. The event will offer a variety of Latin American foods to showcase the range of Latino cuisine and cultures.

The performance lineup for Calle UTSA will include a reading by Chicano poet and educator Joaquin Zihuatanejo, performances by Mariachi Nuevo Estilo, which competed on "America's Got Talent;" and UTSA's Latin dance student organization, Latin Dance Society.

Food will include a variety of dishes from across Latin America including Salvadoran pupusas, Peruvian anticuchos, Cuban stuffed potatoes and Mexican-inspired fruit skewers with chili and lime. There will two salsa bars including chips and queso.

The Student Center for Community Engagement and Inclusion provides opportunities to celebrate and learn about diverse cultures and peoples. Through experiential events, trainings, presentations and workshops, students can learn about a variety of cultural and identity groups, including their own.
