UTSA to conduct Evac-Chair training sessions at Main and Downtown campuses
(Oct. 20, 2014) -- The UTSA Office of Emergency Management will conduct Evac-Chair training sessions Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Main Campus and Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Downtown Campus. The training is open to faculty and staff members.
Participants will learn about threats and hazards, and evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures. The training sessions will include a video on the use of the Evac-Chair and hands-on practice with the equipment in a stairwell.
The Evac-Chair provides safe and simple emergency evacuation for the mobility impaired. This is particularly important during an emergency because elevators are turned off.
Evac-Chair training sessions will be available at these times:
Tuesday, Oct. 21, University Center Willow Room (2.02.12), Main Campus
- Session 1 -- 8:30-9:45 a.m.
- Session 2 -- 10-10:45 a.m.
- Session 3 -- 11-11:45 a.m.
Thursday, Oct. 23, Buena Vista Street Building Room 1.322, Downtown Campus
- Session 1 -- 1-1:45 p.m.
- Session 2 -- 2-2:45 p.m.
