UTSA Department of Music presents Prasanna Trio on Nov. 10
(Nov. 5, 2014) -- The UTSA Department of Music will present the Prasanna Trio featuring world-renowned Indian guitarist Rajesh Prasanna at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 10 in the UTSA Arts Building Recital Hall (2.03.02) on the Main Campus. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.
The concert will feature guitar works that range from traditional classical Indian music to contemporary jazz, rock and blues. Musical selections will include original compositions from Steven Spielberg's movie soundtrack "The Hundred Foot Journey."
Described as a quintessential Indian Renaissance man, Prasanna has enjoyed a diverse career that includes solo performances, band music concerts and recording projects.
An accomplished musician, Prasanna has performed throughout India, Europe, South America and the United States. He also has served as a guest performer with the 13-piece Belgium band Manngold De Cobre and many others.
Prassana was featured with Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman on MTV's signature musical show, "Coke Studio." He was voted among the "Top 50 Creative Indians in 2010" by Open magazine.
Prasanna received an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India, and a music degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
The concert is sponsored by the Rajam and Somayaji Ramamurthy Endowed Visiting Artist in Indic Dance, Music and Culture.
