UTSA SBDC accepting applications for Building Business Excellence program
(Jan. 5, 2015) -- The UTSA Institute for Economic Development San Antonio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will partner with Holt Development Services, Inc. to offer Holt's highly effective organizational development and leadership training to small business entrepreneurs in South Texas. The training program will be Feb. 17-April 7.
The Building Business Excellence program is a seven-week intensive strategic leadership training designed to support established, strong companies to achieve even more growth. Top-rated facilitators will share Holt's widely celebrated Values Based Leadership (VBL) methodology, give examples of successful organizations that incorporate VBL tools and processes into their day-to-day practices, and will help participants integrate the material into their own companies.
"The concepts taught in this program have catalyzed HOLT CAT's growth in becoming the largest Caterpillar dealer in North America. The unique Holt Values Based Model™ has been integrated in successful organizations throughout North America, including Spurs Sports and Entertainment, parent company of the five time world champion San Antonio Spurs," said Guy Clumpner, president of Holt Development Services Inc. and senior vice president for organizational development with HOLT CAT.
The SBDC is now accepting applications for the Spring 2015 Building Business Excellence program. The seven-week program will run every Tuesday from Feb. 17 through April 7 with the exception of March 10, when there will be no program. The opening session will be at Perico's Stone Oak from 1 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17. The closing session and graduation will be 1:30-8 p.m. April 7 at Perico's Stone Oak. All other sessions will be at the UTSA Downtown Campus from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Topics will center on leadership, marketing, human resources and ethics. Register for the program at the SASBDC website.
Business owner and 2012 BBE graduate, Rodney Gray, said, "the SBDC and the Building Business Excellence program helped me bring my passion for improving health care for children and my need to understand good business practices together to create a successful company."
Gray credits the program for helping to expand his strategic vision and give him the courage to invest past his comfort zone.
"I use what I learned in BBE at work and at home. Keeping it top-of-mind has helped me a lot with almost everyone I deal with. Sign up as quick as you can -- it's one of the most valuable things I've ever done," said Shawn Fluitt, 2014 BBE graduate.
Payment plans are available for the program. The total cost to participate is $2,995.
