A Message from UTSA President Ricardo Romo, March 2015
March 20, 2015
Dear Friends,
This spring, UTSA leaders, faculty, staff, students, alumni and community supporters have embarked on an exciting new step in our journey to Tier One recognition. Together, we are working to create a new strategic plan for the university: UTSA 2020 Blueprint.
Strategic planning and teamwork are critical to our success at UTSA. We have made significant advances toward Tier One, guided by our existing plan, A Shared Vision UTSA 2016. We have attracted top students and world-class faculty. We have built academic excellence and increased graduation rates. We have expanded the partnerships that drive discovery and invention and received national recognition for our community engagement efforts.
We can all be proud of these achievements. Together, we have provided top-tier opportunities for our students. We have built a reputation for excellence. Now, it is time to take the next step.
In the coming months, UTSA teams will identify strategic priorities that will allow us to enhance academic excellence, create superior student experiences and strengthen our involvement in the community. These new strategies will also allow us to make a greater commitment to research, develop world-class graduate programs and build critical infrastructure that better serves the needs of our university.
Great ideas are needed to make UTSA 2020 Blueprint a success. I encourage everyone to get involved – faculty, staff, students, alumni, and our partners in the San Antonio community. At the end of the process, we will have a new strategic plan that helps us reach more milestones in our journey to Tier One.
I invite you to learn more about UTSA 2020 Blueprint and to become involved in the process, by going to www.utsa.edu/2020blueprint. Thank you for being a part of this effort and for all you do for UTSA.
Go 'Runners!
Ricardo Romo
President, The University of Texas at San Antonio
