UTSA hosts San Antonio Mayoral candidate forum on clean energy, economic development April 22

(April 20, 2015) -- The UTSA College of Public Policy, Texas Sustainable Research Institute at UTSA and The Butler Firm will host a mayoral candidate forum on clean energy and economic development on Earth Day, April 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the UTSA Downtown Campus in the Buena Vista Building Aula Canaria (BV 1.328).

Mayor Ivy Taylor and Mike Villarreal have confirmed their participation in the forum.

With the mayoral elections quickly approaching, attendees will get an inside perspective on each candidate’s vision for San Antonio’s clean energy future. San Antonio’s mayoral candidates will sit down together to discuss clean energy policy and economic development programs for the city.

Thomas Tunstall, Research Director of the UTSA Institute for Economic Development, will be moderating the panel, which will cover a range of issues integral to San Antonio’s success as a clean tech leader. The mayoral candidates will also discuss the City’s energy governance and procurement programs in partnership with CPS Energy, the economic development potential of San Antonio’s clean energy ecosystem, clean energy affiliations with UTSA, Mission Verde Alliance and much more.

Note that Cattleman’s Square and Lots D1, D2, and D3 will be utilized for Fiesta parking. However, free parking to the public attending the clean energy forum will remain available in Lot D-3 beneath IH-35 in unmarked spaces only.
