(April. 28, 2015) -- The UTSA Staff Council invites UTSA faculty, staff, students and friends to attend its 2015 "Strikes for Scholarships" bowling fundraiser and silent auction from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 18 at University Bowl, 12332 West Interstate 10, near De Zavala Road.

The evening fundraiser will support Staff Council's annual scholarship, awarded to two UTSA staff undergraduate students and two UTSA staff graduate students.

The "Strikes for Scholarships" fundraiser will include a silent auction, giveaways, door prizes and spirited competition. Teams of up to eight bowlers, individual bowlers, and families are welcome to attend. To ensure everyone gets to complete the two games during the allotted time, five- or six-person teams are encouraged. Two bowling games and rental shoes will be included in the $17 entry fee that can be paid in cash or check, made payable to UTSA.

The UTSA Staff Council works to continually improve university operations and the well-being of the university's staff. Charged by the president and the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System, the 35 members of the Staff Council represent all administrative areas of the university and serve as an advisory body, making recommendations to the president regarding the interests and concerns of staff. The council coordinates staff appreciation awards and events and provides scholarships for eligible staff pursuing degrees at the university.
