UTSA music marketing program presents "UTSA Underground" concert April 28
(April 27, 2015) -- The UTSA Department of Music marketing program will present “UTSA Underground,” an evening of musical performances by students across various disciplines at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28. To commemorate the events theme, the free performances will take place in the tunnel system below the Arts Building, Flawn Sciences Building and Multidisciplinary Studies Building on the Main Campus.
UTSA Music Marketing students surveyed the campus to find a new and creative venue for a large event. The students discovered that utilizing the facility tunnels beneath the university would be a great way to create a novel and compelling setting for music, poetry and visual art. The loading docks will function as stages, and each act will perform in a different location of the tunnel.
“UTSA Underground” is designed to present students with unique artistic talents and showcase the hidden talents of the student body. The event is an opportunity to present these unrecognized talents to the rest of the university in a place that is integral to the inner workings of the campus, yet largely unnoticed by the student body: the underground tunnel system.
Scheduled performers include: Alejandro Flores, Vanessa Lau, Trevin Roming, Colton Chapman and Fabian Beltran, Bertie Salazar, Stefan Greenfield-Casas, Garrett Dunlap, Natalie Steele, Katrix, CoCo, Rafael Gutierrez, Rooster Martinez, Deeayegoo, K.O, Bashful, Delaware, God Hates Figs, Fierce Deity and MXCG, So We Are, Candy, Paddington Frisk, Just Hits, Brown Rice Woodwind Quintet, Phi Mu Alpha, Peanut Gallery, Sagebrush Review, Cinnamon House, and Street Urchenz.
The concert will be produced by students in the UTSA Music Marketing program in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. The program provides students the opportunity to work on and learn various aspects of the music industry. Students participate in creative music marketing projects in a seminar setting and as a dedicated course for projects.
