(July 23, 2015) -- Stem cells offer alternatives to traditional medical techniques. UTSA researchers hope these illustrated progenitor cells could, one day, become different tissues in the body. The regenerative medicine has many applications in the treatment of the disease. It might also assist the military in wound or burn care.

John McCarrey, the Kleberg Distinguished Chair in Cellular and Molecular Biology at UTSA, focuses his research in the areas of reproduction, stem cells and regenerative medicine. Under his leadership, McCarrey has helped position the College of Sciences as an area of excellence in stem cell research.
