Actors from the London Stage to perform A Midsummer Night's Dream at UTSA Oct. 21, 23 and 24.
(Oct. 2, 2015) -- The UTSA Friends of Shakespeare and the Department of English are hosting a return of Actors From the London Stage. The touring ensemble of five British actors will perform.
Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 7:30 p.m., October 21, 23 and 24 in the Arts Building Recital Hall on the 1604 Campus of UTSA.
The actors, from such prestigious companies as the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, and the Abbey Theatre, are Patrick Moy, Claire Redcliffe, Samuel Collings, Ffion Jolly, and Chris Donnelly. The performers play multiple roles in a production that utilizes simple costumes and minimal scenery, with an emphasis on the riches of Shakespeare’s language.
Actors From the London Stage visit selected American universities each year to perform and to conduct classroom workshops. This is the company’s twenty-ninth visit to UTSA and San Antonio. The residency is supported by The UTSA Friends of Shakespeare, the Crittenden Shakespeare Endowment, and a grant from the Russell Hill Rogers Fund for the Arts.
Actors From the London Stage is an international touring theater organization based in London and at the University of Notre Dame. It combines the superb talents of world class actors on stage with rare opportunities for students to work with them in the classroom. Covering a vast range of performances, AFTLS residencies have been bringing Shakespeare to life at UTSA since 1988.
Tickets for performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream are $18 for general admission, $10 for students (with a student ID) and are available online at http://colfa.utsa.edu/english/shakespeare.html. Unsold tickets will also be available at the door (cash or check).
