UTSA SBDC now accepting applications for Building Business Excellence program, Feb. 16 - Apr. 5
(Jan. 4, 2016) -- The UTSA Institute for Economic Development's San Antonio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will partner with Holt Development Services Inc. to offer Holt's highly effective organizational development and leadership training to small to mid-sized businesses in South Texas.
The training program will be held from February 16 to April 5. The Building Business Excellence program is a seven-week intensive strategic leadership training designed to help established, strong companies achieve even more growth. Top-rated facilitators will share Holt's widely celebrated Values Based Leadership (VBL) methodology, give examples of successful organizations that incorporate VBL tools and processes into their day-to-day practices and help participants integrate those lessons into their own companies.
"The concepts taught in this program have catalyzed HOLT CAT's growth in becoming the largest Caterpillar dealer in North America. The unique Holt Values Based Model™ has been integrated in successful organizations throughout North America, including Spurs Sports and Entertainment, parent company of the five time world champion San Antonio Spurs," said Guy Clumpner, president of Holt Development Services Inc. and senior vice president for organizational development with HOLT CAT.
The SBDC’s 2016 Building Business Excellence program will run every Tuesday from February 16 through April 5 with the exception of March 15, when there will be no program. The closing session and graduation will be from 1:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5 at the Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio. All other sessions will be held at the UTSA Downtown Campus from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Topics will center on Values Based Leadership (VBL), DiSC, situational leadership, conflict resolution, influencing, hiring and ethics. Register for the program at the mybbe.org website.
Business owner and BBE graduate Sandra Lopez said, "The Building Business Excellence Program opened my eyes to go further in a business sense, ask questions and get things done in that way. When I left class for the day, I would get so excited. I’d call the office and let them hear what I’d learned for the day. Once I shared that with the office staff, it got really exciting where we could use it in the office or out of the office. I would highly suggest it."
Lopez credits the program for providing valuable information and insight on the Values Based Leadership Model, as well as how-to-use tools to implement the program successfully.
"The BBE program opened my eyes to a whole new way of thinking, analyzing and communicating in a work environment. I was able to take what I learned each week and immediately apply it to both my professional and personal lives. I am much more deliberate in my communications with my co-workers and feel like I have gained control over many situations that would have gotten away from me if it wasn't for the valuable training I received in the BBE program. For me, the BBE Program launched immediate professional and leadership development. It has made me a better boss, co-worker, employee and communicator. I have more confidence in my decision making and problem solving abilities. I would highly recommend this program to other business leaders," said Vanessa Van De Putte, BBE graduate.
