(March 22, 2016) -- UTSA, the San Antonio Express-News and Time Warner Cable News will host a town hall meeting about San Antonio’s growing traffic congestion at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 31 in the Buena Vista Street Building Aula Canaria Auditorium (BVB 1.328) at the UTSA Downtown Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Year after year, the region’s population grows and traffic problems grow with it. San Antonio drivers spend about 44 hours in traffic annually, a 2015 report showed. Controversy over street cars and toll roads has evolved to opposition to HOV lanes. What can policymakers do to ease the pain?

Four panelists will address the topic at a 90-minute forum. They include Jeff Arndt, president and CEO of VIA Metropolitan Transit; Leon Valley Mayor Chris Riley; San Antonio City Councilman Rey Saldana; and Bexar County Commissioner Kevin Wolff. Francine Romero, associate professor and associate dean of the UTSA College of Public Policy, will moderate.

Free event parking will be available in unmarked spaces of lot D-3, beneath IH-35. Tickets are required for entry to the town hall meeting. To reserve your free tickets, visit www.mySA.com/townhall and click on the image.

The San Antonio Express-News also will collect questions from members of the audience in advance of the start of the event. To submit a question, arrive early to fill out a Q&A card provided by event hosts.

Time Warner Cable News will air a live broadcast of the town hall meeting. To view the program online, visit http://www.twcnews.com/tx/san-antonio.html and click on the “Watch Live” tab.
