UTSA wants books in exchange for smaller parking citation fees
(April 11, 2016) -- Individuals who received parking tickets on the UTSA campuses can save money and help promote literacy in South Texas during Citation Donation Days.
From April 11-13, Business Auxiliary Services (BAS) will accept donations of children’s books in exchange for a 50 percent price reduction on one parking citation.
“Our children’s book donation event gives us a chance to help individuals save money while positively impacting our community,” said Burt Reynolds, Assistant Director of BAS.
BAS has teamed up with the Student Government Association (SGA) to give the books to the San Antonio Youth Literacy Book Buddies Program.
The campaign comes on the heels of last semester’s wildly successful Peanut Butter Parking Campaign. It provided more than 700 pounds of peanut butter to the San Antonio Food Bank.
To submit your donation and receive your discount, bring a new or gently used children’s book for Pre-K-5th grade children to BAS by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13. BAS is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s located on the Main Campus in MS 1.01.52 or on the Downtown Campus in FS 1.506.
