UTSA summer camps for all ages, July 18-22
(July 18, 2016) — This summer, UTSA is offering more than 100 top-tier camp opportunities for local elementary, high school and incoming undergraduate students. Each camp offers a unique, fun, challenging and innovative learning experience for students.
UTSA’s top-tier faculty and staff developed the UTSA summer camps to help prepare the next generation of scientists, engineers, artists and athletes in San Antonio.
Between Monday, July 18 and Friday, July 22, campers at UTSA will have the opportunity to learn all about the monarch butterfly; gain an understanding of environmental science; and up their baseball and volleyball games.
This week, UTSA is offering the following camps:
ITEC Camps
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., UTSA Main Campus
The UTSA Interactive Technology Experience Center camps are for curious youth who are interested in STEM and related topics. This week, campers in kindergarten through 2nd grade will study environmental science. Third through 5th grade campers will focus on food chemistry, and robotics and programming. Sixth through 8th graders will delve into biomedical engineering.
Monarch Butterfly Summer Camp
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., UTSA Main Campus
The Monarch Butterfly camp will explore basic concepts in monarch biology, ecology and conservation. Third through 5th grade students will experience hands-on butterfly education and learn about wildlife conservation. This camp will also cover a different branch of ecology each day.
Volleyball Hitter / Setter Camp
Monday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., UTSA Main Campus, Convocation Center
UTSA’s All Skills Volleyball Camp focuses on the individual development of left side and right side hitters. Topics will include footwork, arm-swing, transition footwork, shot selection and back row attacking. This camp is designed for players entering 7th grade and higher.
Baseball Youth Camp
Monday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Roadrunner Baseball Field
This camp will consist of lectures on hitting, infield play, outfield play, bunting and base-running. Pitching & catching will be covered in the afternoon sessions only. Campers will get to experience Extended Bag games at the end of each session against kids in their age range and will compete in the Roadrunner Olympics on the final morning of camp.
